Pride & Prejudice, Circa 1995

So I decided on a whim to start watching this series.

There are many adaptations of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice out there, from BBC to Bollywood. This adaptation is the former, and the series has six hour-long episodes. I guess I was intimidated by the time it would take to finish it, but I guess I didn't know unless I tried, right?

The decision to watch this finally came while Mom and I were watching PBS' latest Masterpiece Theatre P&P spinoff series, "Death Comes to Pemberley". It was...alright. While we were watching Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth argue (which was ridiculous...they never argued beyond exchanges of wit, nor did they give each other the silent treatment), we decided to switch off the TV and stream the first episode of the 1995 BBC series from my laptop, since I still hadn't seen it.

Y'all. I love it.

It's nearly word-for-word from the novel (and it's been awhile since I've read the novel for the first time). The characters are fabulous so far, and yes, Colin Firth is the best as Mr. Darcy. ;) Ha! But seriously...the feels are real, and I can't wait to finish this series out this week. I may even plow through it in a couple days, time permitting.

I've been watching this series on Amazon Prime, but I bet you can find it on Netflix or at your local library (my college library had it!). Trust me...if you are a fan of Pride & Prejudice in any capacity and haven't seen this, it's totally worth it to check it out. :)

P. S. Have y'all noticed a few changes to the color scheme of the blog? :) Hope y'all like them!
